Cycling aside the North Esk in Launceston Tasmania

Most days I cycle along the river path where people walk their dogs and tourists take selfies, and here I offer some images of that river path. An egret on the water's edge a bird that I often see, it is autumn at the present and this picture has the gentle colours seen on an evening of cloud cover.  The river is tidal, and on an evening in the 'golden hour' before the fading sun, Our lord's creation bursts in autumn splendor. Ducks rest on the way as the clouds reflect their fading glory.   A lone tree against the fading light. A lone cormorant dries its wings as the tide turns. At High tide the water approaches the path and the willows have their roots soaked. It reminds me of Psalm 1 verse 3 that pictures the person of faith drinking of God's revelations.   Home as the night draws on 'and though the last lights off the black West went' to quote Gerald Manley Hopkins. The Antipodean heavens fade to a deep royal purple.

 Evandale in Northern Tasmania Like so many towns in Tasmania churches abound, but not frequented, sadly there is much evidence of past Christian life, but now so many of churches are closed or have a mere handful of worshipers. Evandale churches are open still but their presence is largely ignored by the art loving community. Perhaps these buildings are appreciated for their artistic beauty alone.   I am reminded that God did not save the Jerusalem temple from destruction so may be it is time for the church to regain its mission zeal.          John Glover is its favourite son and artist and the town being the centre of Glover country that today the town has become a place known for its artists. I always find it strange that people so sensitive to the beauty of colour, form and nature should be so ignorant and even often hostile towards Christianity when our Faith has supported the arts for centuries. My Photographic journey

My father introduced me to photography in my early years and an aunt gave me a camera taking 120 films. Those were years in which the images fascinated me and I took pictures of all sorts of things from leaves on trees our cat. Then on the Eastern Shore of Canada in my teenage years, I took to developing and printing photographs for the local drug store. I dread to think what people thought of the quality of my work. I developed the films in the bathroom, used a homemade enlarger with a camera lens and washed the prints in the stream running through the property. I used a cage of chicken wire for the washing and large vinegar bottles filled with hot water for the glazing. That was my early introduction to the photographic process and soon I was given a second-hand range finder camera with an f2.8 lens.
