The Western Tiers rise up as a three thousand ft rock wall above the Norfolk plains 

After ascending the Tiers the highlands stretch out as a world of contrast to the lowlands where rocks and twisted gum trees reign

Across the Norfolk plains Blessington lies at the foot of Benlomond and the  forrest roads are often iced and snowed.
