Evandale in Northern Tasmania Like so many towns in Tasmania churches abound, but not frequented, sadly there is much evidence of past Christian life, but now so many of churches are closed or have a mere handful of worshipers. Evandale churches are open still but their presence is largely ignored by the art loving community. Perhaps these buildings are appreciated for their artistic beauty alone. I am reminded that God did not save the Jerusalem temple from destruction so may be it is time for the church to regain its mission zeal. John Glover is its favourite son and artist and the town being the centre of Glover country that today the town has become a place known for its artists. I always find it strange that people so sensitive to the beauty of colour, form and nature should be so ignorant and even often hostile towards Christianity when our Faith has supported the arts for centuries. The rivers that meet at Launceston, the North and South Esk and the Tamar, Tasmania The evening sun offers so many different moods to any river. And the setting sun on a full tide is not to be missed The river runs to the hear of the city of Launceston in Tasmania. Black swans in Australia are not something out of place, they cut a beautiful line on the water. Cycling the Esk path on an evening is a wonder of reflections when the tide is on the turn. and such colours as seen below amaze one The North and South Esk rivers that flow into the Tamar at Launceston are tidal in their lower reaches and as one goes up river it changes as seen here at St Leonards. The river is cleansed of its mud where the fresh water flows from the mountains.
